One week ago I turned on my PC, only it didn't...
The On button didn't work. My PC was dead as a dodo.
A wave of fear came crashing down on me. What? How? Why? followed closely by 'NOOOOO...... this can't be happening!!'
It's happened to us all and apart from bereavement, it is probably the worst feeling in the world. Then logic kicks in (hopefully) and you start analysing what has happened, plus you think about the date of your last backup, the separate hard drive, the USB stick in the drawer and the cloud.
Being me, I then checked the fuse in the mains plug, and opened up the case to find a lot of dust inside. But I suspect that the issue is a failed power supply unit (PSU), so that will need swapping out when I get back from my travels.
In the meantime a visit to PCWorld to research a laptop model suitable to handle my work and although they didn't have what I wanted in stock, within 2 days I had a replacement delivered from Scan Computers for exactly the same price as in PCWorld, but with a couple of useful freebie's. Kudos to Scan Computers.
Disaster averted for now. Phew!!
